Kyrel is an NPC found in Realm of Damnation in Diablo Immortal.

Biography

Kyrel was part of a group of angel sentinels led by Verathiel. They discovered the Realm of Damnation as it was taking shape. Cut off from the High Heavens, they carved out a foothold in the realm, battling demons over the eons.

The following events do not necessarily occur in order, but have been arranged to be as chronologically accurate as possible.

Horn of Harmony

After learning of Skarn's death, Kyrel aimed to reunite the angels scattered throughout the Realm of Damnation. To do that,he took an angelic horn with him into the depths of the realm, in the hopes that it would attract any nearby angel that hears it. After sounding it with no reply, he left to search the surrounding area.

During his search someone sounded the horn, and with high hopes he rushed back. It turned out to be a mortal who had a similar idea as he to attract angels. Unfortunately, demons arrived shortly after—likely also attracted by the horn. After killing the demons, Kyrel told the mortal to sound the horn again. The mortal was wary of attracting more demons, but relented in the end. When nothing replied to the horn, the mortal tried to convince Kyrel to return to the Last Vestige, but he refused. Kyrel theorized that the sound of the horn couldn't reach his brethren because the Light of the mortal was in dissonance due to their heritage.

Kyrel sounds the horn himself, making it ring louder than before, and attracting more demons. Fortunately, the angel Zepydra was also drawn to the sound of the horn, and helped them defeat the demons. After that, the mortal was thanked for their help.

Damnation's Chosen

"The wicked soul of a mortal writhes nearby. And blight festers around it. This is your problem to solve, <name>. But I will aid you."

Kyrel

Kyrel discovered the presence of a human soul in the Citadel of the Damned, one that was assisting the forces of Skarn. He ordered the Shard-seeker to deal with it, believing it was their problem to solve, but aided them as they fought their way through the fortress. They discovered that the mortal was Eskara (a member of Skarn's Cult of Damnation), and that former humans had been transformed into demons. Fighting their way through the monstrosities, they reached Eskara herself. They struck her down, but she was reborn as a demon, who was, in turn, struck down again.

Kyrel told the Shard-seeker that they would keep vigil, as given that Eskara was now a demon, she would inevitably reform in time.

Visitor From Afar

"I saw demons pursuing a mortal that resembles you in statue. Small. Foolish, to intrude on this realm"

Later on, Kyrel saw a woman being chased by demons, he reported the incident to the Shard-seeker who was passing by and left it up to them to rescue the mortal.

Blood Lure

"The demon I hunt fashions a shield from the essence of my kin. My blood is its lure, that I may strike from surprise and break its unholy defenses."

Later, Kyrel heard about a demon that had been hunting angels, and using their essence to create a shield for itself. Kyrel set a trap for the demon using his blood as lure. Incidentally, the Shard-seeker was drawn to the location by investigating the blood trail. They helped Kyrel lure the demon to the trap, and defeat it.

In-game

Kyrel appears in the side quest "Damnation's Chosen." He accompanies the player throughout the quest, but plays no direct role. He can be found in the eastern wing of the Halls of Punishment. He also appears in the side quests "Visitor From Afar" and "Horn of Harmony".
