Adventurers dressed in the garb of Westmarch royalty

The King of Westmarch was a hereditary position held by numerous individuals. The garb of the monarch grew more ornate with each generation.[1] When a monarch died (at least for those of the Justinian Dynasty), a great bell in Westmarch was rung thrice, signaling the king's demise. Every time Westmarch lost its king, a period of uncertainty followed, given the question of line of succession and loyalty from feudal lords.[2]

Rakkis Dynasty[]

Westmarch was founded by Rakkis, who became the country's first king.[3] He was succeeded by his son, Korsikk,[4] who in turn was succeeded by his son, Korelan. However, Korelan died without an heir, ending Rakkis's line.[5]

The sigil of the Rakkis Dynasty was the wolf.[2]

Justinian Dynasty[]

Through "a somewhat convoluted interpretation of Zakarum scripture," the crown passed to Justinian I. Thus began the Justinian dynasty. Seen as usurpers by many, the Justinians suffered nearly constant challenges to their rule.[5] The sigil of the Justinians was a bear.[2]

The following monarchs are known of this dynasty (in order of succession):

Justinian IV is the last known King of Westmarch. He was killed by Lord Wynton (who claimed to be a descendant of Korelan) during the Reapers' siege of Westmarch, who in turn was slain by the Nephalem.[6]
