It is learned through conversations with Kormac throughout the game and his perusal of Jondar's notes that Jondar turned against the Order soon after reading the "key words" that restored his memories of life before the Order recruited him, and it's presumed that [[Maghda]] and her minions found him shortly after this and turned him to their side. Kormac also discovers plans in Jondar's notes for angelic weapons made for human hands, with runes similar to those that grace the armor of [[Tyrael]].

- Kormac(src)

Jondar, the Necromancer Betrayer is a Super Unique human enemy in Diablo III. He is a former member of the Templar Order who betrayed his brethren to become a Necromancer serving the Dark Coven.

Biography

"Jondar was once a man of faith, devoted to the templar order. What if he discovered something that made him betray himself?"

- Kormac(src)

Jondar was originally a member of the Templar Order. Like many of the Order's number, he was apparently conscripted, subjected to torture in an effort to remove his former memories. One day, he found a set of what he called "key words" hidden in a dusty libram. As he read the words, memories of his past returned to torment him.[1] He also discovered plans for angelic weapons made for human hands, with runes similar to those that grace the armor of Tyrael.[2]

Jondar-defeated

Jondar defeated

Jondar left the Templar Order, and fell into the service of the Coven. He was pursued by the Templar Kormac, who after being freed by the Nephalem, asked his companion(s) to help him kill Jondar. After Jondar was defeated, he told Kormac that he had been led astray by the Coven's magic. Kormac, unforgiving of betrayal, killed him without mercy.[3]

Kormac recovered Jondar's journal and discovered the series of events that had led Jondar to the Coven. As he recovered his own memories of what the Templar had done to him, he took a softer view on his former ally, reflecting that if he hadn't been betrayed by the Order, Jondar might not have come under Maghda's thrall.[2]
