"Sanctuary...the gate to your world has been broken...and I smell legions of prey behind it."

- Izilech(src)

Izilech the Misshapen was a powerful demon lord, and leader of the Wrathborne.

Biography[]

Early History[]

Vindictive, cruel Izilech leads the Wrathborne, but not by might alone.[1] He and his fellow demonic knights sowed horror across the Burning Hells as they solidified Diablo's rule.[2] However, days before the Dark Exile,[1] Izilech defied his master. Diablo defeated Izilech, and let his body lie twisted and broken, earning him the title of "the Misshapen." His soul was forever bound to the cursed form forced upon him. However, Izilech's will endured,[3] and Diablo and his brothers were banished into Sanctuary.[4]

Izilech reviled his new form, but the Hells proclaimed him bound to the greatest of all Evils, and the Misshapen has fed greedily on his legend.[1] He established his own rule in Hell, revered by the the lesser demons who cowered under his tyranny.[3]

Izilech apparently became known to humans in some manner—journal entries spoke of his martial prowess and gargantuan size.[3]

Recent History[]

"Lassal, burn this flesh pit to the ground. And from its altar, raise an altar of bone to the Wrathborne!"

- Izilech in the vision(src)

In time, the Wrathborne turned their attention to Sanctuary. Izilech was apparently the demon that the Einfrinn Tree was preventing from entering the mortal realm. However, over time, the tree became weaker. In a vision bestowed by the tree to an adventurer, a day came when Izilech was able to enter Sanctuary through the tree, killing it in the process. In the vision, Izilech unleashed the Wrathborne on Westmarch, razing it.[5]

In-game[]

Izilech first appears in cutscenes in Diablo Immortal, in the quest "Opening the Helliquary." Izilech is not fought himself however.

Izilech is a Helliquary boss, made available in the Forgotten Nightmares update. He was first encountered in the quest Izilech the Misshapen. When defeated, Izilech dropped the Wrathborne Crown. Originally, defeating Izilech was required to open Hell V difficulty, but after the difficulty rework in the Unending Storm update, this was scrapped. He can now be challenged on Normal difficulty.

Combat[]

Phase 1[]

"Come to me, prey. Lie on your bellies."

- Izilech the Misshapen(src)

  • Tri-Shot: Izilech fires 3 arrows at a time from his bow.
  • Volley: Izilech fires 8 arrows from his bow three times, with the third time being empowered arrows that cause knockback.
  • Summon Minion: Izilech whistles and points at the player, deploying up to 5 Demon Assault Troopers to attack.
  • Demolition Rain: Izilech fires multiple arrows to the sky that land on a large area in front of him. After a short delay, the arrows explode, starting with the ones closest to him.
  • Leap: Izilech leaps to the player's location. When he lands, he scorches the ground and causes Bone Spikes to erupt from the ground in 4 directions away from himself.

Phase 2[]

"I will be sated."

- Izilech the Misshapen(src)

At 75% of his total life, Izilech leaps to the center of the arena and roars, releasing a shockwave that knocks the player back. In this phase, Izilech at times uses his bow as a sword. For the purposes of clarity, bow/sword will be used depending on how Izilech uses his weapon
  • Swipe: A single swipe from his sword.
  • Sweep: Izilech swipes twice, then charges for the final one, which causes knockback.
  • Tri-Shot: Same as before.
  • Volley: Same as before.
  • Summon Minion: Same as before.
  • Leap: Is now repeated up to 4 times.
  • Spear Cage: Izilech slams the butt of his sword on the ground, and erects a Bone Prison around the player.
    • This skill cannot be evaded.
  • Slam: After the player is Immobilized by the Spear Cage, Izilech teleports to their location. He then raised his sword and charges it for 8 seconds. After that, he slams it down on the player.
    • This would instantly kill the player if they have not yet escaped from the Spear Cage and evacuated the targeted area.
  • Cleave: Izilech roars, placing a mark above the player. He then teleports to them and delivers a quick sweep.

Personality and Traits[]

The most wicked of the Wrathborne, Izilech's cruelty knew no bounds. He was revered by lesser demons who cowered under his tyrannical rule.

Journal entries recounting Izilech's martial prowess made note of his massive bow, pinpoint accuracy, and penchant for flaming arrows. For those fearless enough to close the gap, they were met by massive hooves designed to flatten even the sturdiest adventurers. Records also mentioned a bone prison—unfortunately, there seemed to be no explanation of what happens to those who lingered in it for too long.[3]

Izilech is also a good battlefield general, organizing his army to attack in different formations.[6]

Trivia[]

  • Izilech is the only boss in the baseline Diablo Immortal with an instant-kill attack. If the player doesn't escape the bone prison on time, Izilech charges his bow with hellfire and slams it on the player in an explosion.
"Lord Diablo, leave me my bones"

- Izilech(src)

  • Izilech's torture at the hands of Diablo left him deeply traumatized that even in his dying words he wished Diablo would go easy on him the next time they meet.[6]
