Inferno is the Sorceress' first fire-based high damage spell. It is basically a flamethrower that not only deals damage quickly, but also has a tendency to drain mana pool quickly with careless use. As Inferno's level raises so does the damage it does and its range. The torrent of flame pierces through enemies, regardless of how many get in its path, and grows in range with level.
Combined with the proper equipment along with Fire Mastery, a Sorceress can deal moderate damage, from a very long range, with Inferno. Due to the limited area of the flames only damaging enemies within a line of contact maintained by aiming left and right, slow travel time of the projectile and inability to move while skill is cast allows enemies to often move quickly in and out of range, observed damage per second is actually 1/3 to 1/2 of the average damage per second listed on the skill's mouse-over. In early versions of the game, only the first enemy hit was actually damaged, despite visually all of them being hit.
