The Inari
The Children of Inarius,[1] otherwise called the Inari, or The Father's Blood are a race of humans (formerly nephalem) dedicated to Inarius. Their counterparts are the Lilin.
Lore[]
An Inari Conservator
The Inari claim direct descent from Inarius. They see themselves as enduring the Eternal Conflict through tight social control.[2] The Inari and Lilin jointly ruled the Cradle through (a council of) elders, under the ultimate authority of the Prevailing Wind.[3]
History[]
As with every other nephalem culture on Sanctuary, the Lilin devolved into humans due to Inarius's tampering with the Worldstone.[2]
The Inari and Lilin remained in perpetual conflict, as each sought to recreate Heaven and Hell on the island respectively, using whatever means were at hand.[2] Over time, the Inari gained power and influence over their Lilin counterparts.[3]
In the 13th century, after the latest famine, acrimony between the two peoples further intensified.[3] Later, the Fire of Life ran rampant across Ancients' Cradle, causing social breakdown for both the Inari and Lilin.[2]
With the onset of the affliction, even some of the Inari were afflicted. They blamed the Lilin as the cause of their woes. Some of the Sanctifiers believed that if they killed all the afflicted Lilin, they would be cured.[1]

- The Lilin/Inari conflict mirrors that of angels and demons in the Eternal Conflict, and the Cathedral of Light/Triune in the Sin War.
