Smites an Undead enemy with Holy Light.

Holy Bolt creates a bolt of holy energy dealing damage to undead, bypassing resistances and immunities. The higher the level, the faster the bolt travels. However, it does not scale damage with Spell Level, but with Character Level instead.
Damage Calculation: (Random 9-18) + Character Level
This spell does damage to Diablo himself (quite considerable damage in vanilla Diablo I, but much less in Diablo: Hellfire), although he is not actually Undead, but is completely useless against all other enemies in game (Bone Demons, strangely, are unharmed by it). In return, it does not harm friendly targets either. The spell will simply pass through unaffected foes, without even alerting them to the caster's presence.
Shrines may add +2 Spell levels to Holy Bolt, at permanent cost of 10% of base maximum Mana.
While the Horadrim were the greatest mortal spell casters ever known, not all of the followers of the Light were as proficient in magic as they were. During the quest to bind Mephisto, common soldiers were hard pressed to combat the seemingly endless tides of the undead that guarded the First Brother. During this time, Cathan, a devout priest who was also a fierce warrior, found that by invoking the powers of the High Heavens and then infusing them with the essence of Fire, a bolt of great speed and intensity could be created and used by those otherwise untrained in the use of magic. This Holy Bolt harms only the undead, making it far safer to use while on a chaotic battlefield.
