Hidden Rot is the fifth of the storyline quests released with the Destruction's Wake update of Diablo Immortal. It begins immediately after Fraying Bonds, once the player finishes talking to Tarzoine about the nature of the Ancients' Cradle. Hidden Rot is immediately followed by An Elder's Hope.
Objectives[]
- Find the Elders.
(The Elders, deeper in the island, may have the power to help defend it — and stop the Bride of Hell. Seek them.) - Find a way through the Hall (0/1).
(The dangerous force of the Fire has been activated. Look for a way to pass beyond it... carefully.) - Stop the Hall's Defenses.
(Aided by the Pathstone, you should search for a way to deactivate the Hall's defenses.) - Use the Statues (0/2).
(Nearby statues seem to harmonize with the Pathstone. Channel its power at each one.) - Inspect the Altar.
- Place the Pathstone (0/1).
(Open the barrier and proceed forward.) - Talk to Zatham.(1)
(The barrier in the hall is down. Speak with Zatham.) - Proceed through the Hall.
(With Zatham behind, continue through the Halls of Mutinous Concord.) - Kill the Sanctifiers (0/5).
(Inari Sanctifiers are attempting to slay a villager suffering from the island's affliction. Defeat them.) - Talk to Isphas.
(You saved the Inari, Isphas. Speak with him.) - Talk to the Inari Conservator.
(Inari Conservators have arrived — too late to stop the battle. Speak with their leader.) - Talk to Zatham.
(You're nearer to your destination. Before proceeding, speak with Zatham to get his perspective on the conflict wracking the island.) - Go to Exiles' Repose.
(If Tarzoine and Zatham are correct, the Elders wait in Exiles' Repose. Find their gathering place.) - Place the Pathstone (0/1).
(Use the Pathstone to make your way through the gate to the Elders' gathering place.) - Enter Exiles' Repose.

- The player and Zatham start heading to the Elder's Meeting Hall
- Bride of Hell: How obstinate.
Open the barrier, and I will set you free. Or we can continue. - Inari Warden: I will die... before I give paradise to your kind.
- The Cultists, bar the Bride, are killed by the lightning
- Bride of Hell: (swerves around) You've traded your life for a moment's delay.
- Zatham: Be careful. The land's fury is roused.
- Inspect the Barrier at the end of the hall for a way to proceed
- Zatham: The Pathstone... it is shielding you.
Look for a way to stop this. Go!
- Class: Those statues are responding to the Pathstone.
- Use the Pathstone to activate the statues
- Zatham: Good work. That should lower the barrier so that we can pass.
- Place the Pathstone on the altar
- Zatham: Keep the Pathstone hidden. Others may react with violence if they see it in our hands.
We should be ahead of the fanatics. Let us go.
- Further down the hall
- Isphas: How dare you threaten a son of Inarius? Unhand me!
- Inari Sanctifier: You are plagued. Your life endangers the sanctity of the Cradle.
- Isphas: How... how did you.... Please... let me live!
- Class: We won't hurt you. What happened?
- Isphas: The Sanctifiers... we tried to tell them... we're not monsters, just... just changed. They hear nothing but the tolling of death-bells.
The Lilin ripped the heart from our home. They deserve their punishment. But I've done nothing wrong!
- Inari Conservator: What tragic discord.
- Isphas: Please, brother, help me. The Sanctifiers... they killed everyone else. Had the outsider and Zatham not protected me...
- Inari Conservator: We will hunt down these jackals. The Elders will not permit murder in defiance of our law. Come with me, brother.
- Class: Where are you taking him?
- Inari Conservator: A safe place for the Afflicted. He will be no threat to anyone, and be under no threat from anyone.
- Talk to Zatham
- Class: If I'm breaking some sacred law of your homeland, I'd like to know about it.
- Zatham: They all say, "outsiders bring destruction." But they have been the seeds of their own destruction since was a boy, If anyone can purge the darkness from this land, it will be an outsider.
We will talk to the Elders, but we are not beholden to them.
- Continue on to the Teeming Grounds
- Zatham: Go ahead. Open it.
This will be where they gather.
- Place the Pathstone on the Altar
- Proceed forward
- Ymuthrus: I cannot. This is for the good of all.
- A Conservator binds the Lilin
- Ymuthrus: Your family will be cared for until you are cured. No harm will come to you at the colony.
- Porolum: No... please!
- Ymuthrus: Fear is controlling you. Open your heart to the guidance of Inarius.
- The Conservator teleports away with Porolum
- Zatham: (runs ahead) Stay on your guard. Ymuthrus lies as much as he speaks.
- As the duo approach the clearing
- Ymuthrus: Guards!
- Inari Archivist: More outsiders...
- Inari Sanctifier: The Conflict has arrived.
- The Sanctifiers and Archivists move to the edge of the area
- Ymuthrus: So it is you who brings the outsiders. You who brings ruin.
- Zatham: I bring salvation.
- Class: The cultists are our enemies. If we guard the Husk of Creation together, we can push them back.
- Ymuthrus: No. They poison our home... and now you lead them here?
- The Conservators bind the player
- Ymuthrus: (starts charging the Fire of Life in preparation for a spell) You defy our covenant. You spit on the Father's will.
- Ymuthrus: The land will judge you for this outrage.
- Zatham: (to the audience) Do none of you see what he has done? Are you so afraid to speak against him?
- Ymuthrus blasts Zatham away
- Geherit: Ymuthrus... Zatham is a child returned to this cradle. He deserves our mercy.
- Ymuthrus: (to Zatham) I should never have permitted you to leave.[1] Their whispers have spoiled your soul, boy.
- Geherit: Entrust them to me. I shall measure their claims. We must consider every option.
- Ymuthrus: Whatever harm they bring is upon you tenfold.
- Geherit: As you say, Ymuthrus.
- Geherit starts walking out of the area
- Geherit: (to Zatham and the player) Follow me, if you would.
- Start following Geherit, together with Zatham
- Geherit: (to Zatham) Can you not hold your grievances inside?
- Zatham: This is why the rot spreads. Unwillingness to speak its name.
