Guulrahn is a Dry Steppes town in Diablo IV.
Lore[]
Guulrahn is an ancient city, and prior to its destruction, a flourishing center of culture and trade within the Dry Steppes. Its streets smelt of spices and incense. Water was fed to the city from the Jakha Basin via a canal system.[1] It was ruled by the Overseers; a line of slaver kings.[2]
The Fall of Guulrahn[]
"I... I saw him at the royal court. He walked in, unannounced. (sigh) Demanded the city to be given to him.
The Overseers sent him to the prisons, of course. They laughed about the strange man all night. That was the last time they laughed."
- Conversation between the Wanderer and Oyuun(src)
One day, a stranger walked into the royal court unannounced, and demanded that the city be given to him. The Overseers refused, and threw into the prisons.[3] Inside the prison, the stranger struck a pact with Brol and his tribe of cannibals, who were also detained. The cannibals were released, and allowed to allowed to rampage the unsuspecting citizens. The villagers were rounded up to be killed and eaten, though some were locked in the prisons for later use.[4] The Overseers were fed to demons.[5]
With its fall, families who had lived in Guulrahn for generations were wiped out. A few survivors managed to escape the city,[1] with some of them fleeing to Ked Bardu.[6] With its old rulers dead, a tyrant named Brol rose to power.[1]
Aftermath[]
Even after Brol's death, Guulrahn remained a charnel house. Demons, Cannibals, and other monsters roamed freely through its streets, which were now filled with ash, and its canals were choked with the bodies of the dead.[1]

- Makeshift Barricade: Looks like the City Guards put up a fierce fight and held them off so people could try to escape. Piled up boards, tables, anything they could find was used to try and stall the incoming massacre.
