Geoffrey Staalek was the constable of Staalbreak, the husband of Marenna Staalek, and the father of Jacob Staalek.
Biography[]
Early Life[]
At some point in his life, Geoffrey had a son named Jacob with Marenna Staalek, a Barbarian.[1] Geoffrey taught Jacob how to use a sword and to not let emotion get the better of him in a fight.[2]
Splintered Souls[]
After the Worldstone was shattered, Geoffrey and Marenna made a camp for the refugees of the Southern Dreadlands, which was led by Marenna,[3] while Geoffrey and other volunteers plotted a revolt against the laird.[4]
The Unmaking[]
Geoffrey was one of the defenders of Staalbreak fighting demons during the Unmaking.[5]
Sword of Justice[]
Blood is the Spark[]
Sometime after the destruction of Mount Arreat, Staalbreak was attacked by a Barbarian force. The battle, which Jacob was a part of, ended in Staalbreak's favor. Geoffrey found Jacob beside Ivan's corpse, and berated his son for following Ivan over the walls. Jacob mentioned past words from his father about his oath to protect the people.[1]
Years later, Geoffrey became infected with the Rage Plague and became paranoid. He accused Marenna of betrayal and she was soon executed.[1] After her execution, Geoffrey dueled Jacob, resulting Geoffrey's death and Jacob fleeing Staalbreak.[1]
Legacy[]
After Geoffrey's death, Jacob experienced visions of him and was later visited by his spirit (or hallucinated it), who reassured him that he wasn't a murderer. However, the vision of Geoffrey transformed into his demeanor during his final moments, that of a madman.[6]
