"I have walked the roads that lead to Hell, I have challenged all but Fate. I have fought and bled and carried on just to reach this final gate. And now the task before me looms, this dire deed undone; I shall make my stand against the Three until the battle's won."

- Long Road's End (excerpt)(src)

The Gates of Hell[1] (a.k.a. Gates of the Burning Hells)[2] are the entrance to the Burning Hells.

Lore[]

"Open wide the Gates of Hell."

- Anonymous(src)

The Gates of Hell are gargantuan; to a mortal's eyes, they seem to rise to the height of mountains, built of stones on which are carved repulsive and forbidden runes, as thought each rock received its own curse as it was laid. The gates of iron were built to withstand the onslaught of angels, and to cause Heaven itself to quake. The gates stand with cruel defiance that would gladly see Hell itself destroyed before suffering defeat. Beyond the gates themselves are cracks and fissures that run through uneven ground, exhaling a poisonous miasma; the rank effluvia of unspeakable filth and degradations.[3]

Yet despite being fortifications, the Gates of Hell welcome any lost soul who would voluntarily enter Hell. If that soul is still clothed in a physical form, their flesh is stripped and rendered to adorn the walls, which are strung with the dismantled remains of innumerable victims.[3] The bodies of sinners are pinned to the gates.[1] Many souls have voluntarily entered Hell for its gates; those so lost they feel unworthy of any other place.[3]

There are other methods of entering Hell apart from its titular gates.[3] Other methods of entry to Hell include(d) the Infernal Gate[4] and Hell Rifts.[5]
