Free the Captives is the third Mount Zavain quest, immediately succeeding Khazra Aggression. It begins immediately after talking to Guard Parker outside Sentinel's Watch. It is succeeded by Devious Magic.
Objectives[]
- Reach the Razed Village.
(The village lies to the west of Sentinel's Watch. Khazra attacks are not uncommon in these lands, but aggression like this is far beyond the norm. Something has driven them inta a fury.) - Examine the corpse.
(A fresh corpse greets you at the gates of the razed village. Verek's men are in dire trouble.) - Follow Ralvar into the village
- Remove the Debris from the Well (0/1).
(As you make your way through the flaming ruins, a voice suddenly calls out for aid. Someone is trapped!) - Talk to Guard Krynn.
(One of Ralvar's compatriot's has been freed. Best learn whatever you can from them before heading further into the village.)- Free Guard Weir
- Kill the Khazra
- Inspect the Ritual Site
- Talk to Ralvar

- Start heading to the Razed Village with Lieutenant Ralvar
- Lieutenant Ralvar: It's been days since we fled the village. Stay alert; who knows what we'll find in there.
- Lieutenant Ralvar: A body!
- He inspects the corpse
- Lieutenant Ralvar: Vaughn! This is a fresh wound. He must have tried to escape. Godsdamnit.
- A voice sounds at a distance
- Guard: That voice? Ralvar! Help! I'm pinned under some debris!
- Remove the debris and free the guard
- Lieutenant Ralvar: Take it slowly...
- Guard: Alright, alright.
- Guard Krynn: Thank the blessed Light you two arrived. Vaughn he-he distracted them and I was able to take shelter, but the debris... I-I thought I was done for.
- Lieutenant Ralvar: Krynn, is Weir still alive? How many others were taken?
- Guard Krynn: Five. There were five of us. The khazra were dragging us towards some kind of sacrifice in the town square.
- Guard Krynn: Vaughn managed to break us free but the others weren't as lucky. I haven't seen them since.
- Lieutenant Ralvar: Then there's a chance they're still alive. Come, on adventurer. We need to get to the town square, immediately.
- At the town square, kill the khazra and free Guard Weir
- Lieutenant Ralvar: That's Weir! He's alive!
- Guard Weir: Be careful! Th-the circle... it's... a summoning ring...
- After killing the khazra inspect the ritual site
- Lieutenant Ralvar: I don't understand how this is happening. The khazra are primitive. This should be beyond their capabilities.
- Class: Hm, I've seen rings like this one before. One in Wortham,[1] another in Dark Wood.[2] This sigil belongs to the Cult of Damnation, and each time I saw it they were bringing the foul minions of Hell into this world.
- Lieutenant Ralvar: I see no sign of the others. Whatever's going on we're not going to find answers here. Let's inform the captain. The fight isn't over yet.
- Class: This terrible unblinking eye... It's as if it sees through me.
