This runeword is dedicated for fire-based builds, for many of which it is a best in slot item. For fire druids it is an alternative for Ravenlore.
Flickering Flame pairs well with the Flame Rift Sundered Charm, as the massive fire resist innately granted by the helm's aura negates most of the downsides while simultaneously increasing the potency of fire-wielding characters.
Characters in need of fire resistance in a helm slot that cannot afford the runes may consider the Temper Rune Word instead, which provides roughly half of the fire resistance at a fraction of the cost.
