The Armory

The Armory is a gameplay feature of Diablo III and Diablo Immortal that allows different character builds to be saved and loaded quickly.

Diablo III[]

The Armory made its debut in Diablo III. It is available for both the PC and console versions added in patch 2.5.0. It is located in the town hub of each act, near the Stash.

The Armory allows for the quick updating and switching between up to 10 (per character) saved loadouts or builds. Loadout data includes items equipped, socketed gem types, Kanai's Cube powers, and skills selected. When equipping a previously saved set, all items must still be present in the inventory or Stash. Currently equipped items that become unequipped through this process will be placed into the locations their counterparts were located, even if they were in the Stash. Unfortunately, this does not happen for gems, which tend to simply be placed into the inventory as if they had just been looted. Off-hand items do the same if they are being replaced by a two-handed item.

Gems, both normal and Legendary, are included in Armory loadouts. However, only the type is saved, not the specific gem, so loading from the Armory will always use the highest level of that gem type the player has. This does make it possible for one character's use of the Armory to take a (higher level) Legendary Gem from the stash which is part of a second character's Armory loadout(s), even though it was not the Gem that was originally saved in the Armory. If the original Gem has not been placed back into the stash, which the Armory does not do automatically, this could deprive the second character of the Gem until resolved manually from the first character.

The ten loadouts saved per character can be named and given an icon for ease of reference. A preview button for each loadout displays the attire, skills, and Cube choices, although legendary gems can be hard to see clearly. If any items previously saved are not available, the preview will show a warning but will not show the original item. Since this is based on the individual identity of items, the Armory does not automatically detect replacements or upgrades for the original, such as an Ancient Item to replace a lesser Legendary Item of the same variety (which will itself not be visible in the preview if it has already been salvaged).

Paragon points, and the items and skills of Followers, are not saved by the Armory.

Diablo Immortal[]

The Armory features in Diablo Immortal. Players can save up to 5 build loadouts. It remembers Paragon choices, as well as gear and skills. There is no cooldown for choosing builds.[1] The UI includes a checkbox figure, allowing players to toggle whether specific equipment is saved to a loadout. Players can check the box to save only properties or leave the box unchecked to maintain current Armory functionality.[2]

Diablo IV[]

Diablo IV did not launch with an Armory feature. Because "respeccing" - reallocating Skill and Paragon points - costs gold in the game, some of the details of how an Armory feature would work are unclear. Nonetheless, game staff have stated they are considering the concept.[3]
