Field of Hatred

A Field of Hatred

Fields of Hatred are a PvP feature of Diablo IV.

Lore[]

The Fields of Hatred are areas in Sanctuary that have been tainted by the hatred of Mephisto, which bubbled up from Hell. Those who entered these fields were consumed, turning them against their fellow mortals.[1] Numerous adventurers flock to these areas of their own volition, looking to claim renown through blood and zeal.[2]

Gameplay[]

The Fields are found in the open-world. Players can enter these areas at will, where they will be able to engage in PvP against other players. Players can collect Shards of Hatred in these zones, from defeating enemy players, as well as killing monsters in the zone. Special vendors are found in the Fields where players can spend their shards.

As a player kills other players and collects shards, they slowly infuse themselves with the Curse of Mephisto. Do this enough, and they become a Vessel of Hatred. When this occurs, everyone within a large radius will be made aware of the player on their map. Killing a Vessel of Hatred gives a bonus. If the Vessel stays alive within the area, they get a large bonus at the end of the event.[1]

Through killing monsters in the zone, players can collect Seeds of Hatred. To make use of the seeds, players need to bring them to the Altar of Extraction where they can be smashed into Red Dust. If players are killed in the zone, the seeds are dropped. Red Dust, however, is not lost.[2]

Fields of Hatred will have leaderboards and other gameplay incentives.[3]
