Q-Familiars

Nisza's new stand in Westmarch

  • Nisza: You're here at the perfect time.
My circle is prepared to offer pacts with... we call them Qlnae "the locals." Beings that assist you as familiars, if you make a ritual agreement. They're very helpful. Just know your boundaries.
  • Class: Sounds... curious. How can they help me?
  • Nisza: A familiar can fight alongside you in the wilderness and throughout your adventure. With time and experience, it can also learn some new powerful skills.
  • Class: What will it take to acquire one of these little creatures?
  • Nisza: I have some blank contracts here. Take one, stand in front of the Binding Table, and I will guide you through the ceremony.

Draw a sigil on the contract to summon a familiar

Return to Nisza
  • Nisza: Making a contract with a familiar's not easy. But you're a natural. I'm almost jealous.
Now try to summon your familiar so it can fight with you.
Summon your familiar...
Q-Familiars2

... then talk to Nisza

  • Nisza: Look at how energetic this one is! It's ready to get out there. That's a good sign.
The Qinae want to experience things as we do... and you seem to spend quite a lot of time killing monsters. I hear Ashwold Cemetery's crawling with them — how about introducing your new friend to the rigors of your work?
I'm not just asking you to solve my problems for free. I promise. I'll give you something special for your familiar as a token of my appreciation when you're back.
Take your Familiar to Ashwold Cemetery for a test run by killing monsters
Q-Familiars3

After that, return to Nisza

  • Class: Ashwold is still plagued by the risen dead. But we thinned their numbers.
  • Nisza: Oh, I wasn't expecting a miracle. You did more than enough. Take these Spirit Essences as a thank you.
  • Class: I assume that's a gift for my familiar, not me.
  • Nisza: It's a gift for both of you. The Qlnae are omnivorous creatures, and consuming Spirit Essence helps them learn new skills. Feed your familiar Spirit Essence until it reaches a new height of power.
Feed more Spirit Essence to your familiar until it upgrades to level 5
  • Class: It seems my familiar's learning new things already.
  • Nisza: I wish we could all learn that way. Your friend has real potential —why don't you push it to the peak of its power? I'll have something else for you two when you're through.
You can acquire more Spirit Essence from questing, scavenging in the wilderness, or harvesting it from monsters. Your familiar won't care where you get it from — they just love the stuff.
Harvest more Spirit Essence to raise your Familiar to the peak of its power (level 30)
Q-Familiars4

Return to Nisza

  • Nisza: A bond with a familiar needs to be nurtured. You're doing a decent job of it.
It's time to make good on my promise. I have some unbound familiars at the peak of their power. Why don't you pick one out?
Get a tamed Familiar from the Familiar Shop
  • Class: I picked one out. Thank you.
  • Nisza: Now that you've taken more than one under your wing, let me teach you the Melding Ritual. Don't worry about how that sounds. They're used to it.
It's an ancient ritual, older than my Circle, even. It merges two Qlnae — their bodies and what you might think of as their "souls" — into one. The melded familiar can retain the best attributes of both and and develop rare skills.
After the Melding Ritual
Q-Familiars5

Say farewell to Nisza

  • Class: Just like that. They've melded.
  • Nisza: It's tempting to think of them like people or animals. Don't. These creatures crave the new experiences that come with transformation. Or at least that's what they keep whispering to me. Continue melding familiars, and yours will grow ever stronger.
  • Class: It's a lot to think about... but I know they'll come in handy. Thank you for your help, Nisza.
  • Nisza: Helping you helps my Circle. We want a lot of the same things done.
Familiars are hidden in every corner of this world. Some seem drawn to nature; others to dark magic gone wrong. Keep exploring, and maybe you'll find a few I haven't.
  • Class: I'm sure I'll have some new discoveries to share with you in the future.
  • Nisza: Just take good care of your familiars. And yourself, too.

Part 2[]

  • Letter:
    <Name>,
Perhaps you have noticed that your familiars can get a bit restless when left idle? They are curious creatures who are eager to explore the world with their newfound power.
The good news is those already bonded to you can be trusted on their own little "expeditions" to shake that restlessness.
You will benefit as well, of course. Come see me and I will show you what I mean.
    —Nisza
Go to Westmarch

Westmarch[]

Upon reaching Rakkis Plaza
  • Nisza: (from a distance) Ah, there you are. Let's have a chat.
Q-Familiars6

Talk to Nisza

  • Nisza: Your bonded familiars can now be sent on expeditions to locations I have marked. Let them satisfy their curiosity, and you will be rewarded.
