Fallen Shamans are monsters that first appear in Diablo II. They are related to Fallen Ones, and they are found leading large groups of them, casting Fire Bolts and resurrecting their fallen comrades.
In-game[]
Unlike their lower Fallen warriors, Shamans are not cowardly and do not run away if one of their own are killed and can be easily noticed by their slightly larger size, deeper voice, larger horns and long, flag-adorned staff. It is wise to dispatch the Shaman before attacking their Fallen underlings, otherwise they will simply revive any that are slain. However, the Shaman cannot resurrect Fallen that are not of his breed; so a Carver Shaman cannot revive a Fallen One. They attack by sending fireballs from their staffs and in close-combat, resort to using a knife; their fireballs are slow-moving, however, and easy to dodge. Defensively, they are slightly tougher than Fallen warriors, though they are still fairly easy to kill. There are four other variations of Fallen Shamans, one for each type of Fallen One: Carver Shamans, Devilkin Shamans, Dark Shamans, and Warped Shamans. Unique Shaman can revive normal Shamans, and may even spawn in groups with no Fallen ones.

Development[]

In 1.00 version of the game Warped Shamans could spawn in the Durance of Hate Level 3. This was changed in later revisions, and thus only one appears in the Throne of Destruction as Colenzo the Annihilator.
There is an unused graphic in the files called "ShamanHealMissile01" which means that Fallen Shamans were planned to heal their fallen minions. At some point, Fallen, Carver, Devilkin, Dark One Shamans were called: Enraged, Demented, Deranged, Depraved Shamans.
