A Fal rune is a low-mid rune which can be socketed into equipment in Diablo II: Lord of Destruction. Although Fal runes are not used in popular rune words, they are still useful for upgrading rare weapons to elite versions.

Socketing an item with a Fal rune increases the item's level requirement to 41, unless it was already higher.

The Countess's extra rune drops on hell difficulty can include Fal runes.
The Hellforge on nightmare or hell difficulty has a 1 in 11 chance to drop a Fal rune as part of its quest reward.
The Act 3 (N) Good treasure class has a chance to drop a Fal rune, as do higher Good treasure classes.
In single-player, open or ladder games only, the Horadric Cube can transmute three Ko runes and one flawed sapphire into one Fal rune.

Recipes[]
Fal runes are used in two Horadric Cube recipes.
- Transmute three Fal runes and a flawed ruby to create one Lem rune. (single-player, open or ladder only)
- Transmute an exceptional rare weapon, a Fal rune, an Um rune, and a perfect sapphire to upgrade the rare weapon's base weapon type to its elite version.
