The Everburning Fount is a sacred artifact of the Shadows. It is a brazier of ever-burning flames (presumably) created by Akeba.

The Everburning Fount empowers a shadow

The Everburning Fount is a locus for the power Akeba granted the Shadows. It is connected to all shadows; past and present. It grants power to all shadows who pledge to it; according to their rank.

The spirit of Akeba (or at least a shade of her) resides in the flames of the Everburning Fount.

In-game

The Everburning Fount can be found in the Assembly Hall of the Court of Whispers. New shadows, and those with sufficient marks to rank up can go to the Everburning Fount to progress their rank. During the Shadow Assembly, shadows gather around the Everburning Fount to receive Akeba's Blessings.
