Essence Transfer is a gameplay feature in Diablo Immortal. Inspired by the Kanai's Cube from Diablo III: Reaper of Souls,[1] it allows extracting the essences of Legendary Items. , from and inheriting them onto any Legendary Item for the same slot.
Extract[]

Essence extraction menu
The essence of a legendary equipment can be extracted and stored in a collection. Extracting essence destroys the equipment. Essences extracted for the first time are added to the collection.
Essence Mastery[]
Extracting an essence already in the collection adds to Essence Mastery, shown as a green bar at the top of the Extract menu. Filling the bar grants a level in Essence Mastery, up to a maximum of 4. Each level of Mastery improves the quality of all legendary equipments.
Essence Mastery is counted separately for each class.
Loyalty Bonus[]
The loyalty bonus allows obtaining specific essences without having to find them by chance. It is shown on the bottom left corner of the Extract menu.[2]
Players receive Loyalty Points (for equipment corresponding to the server's difficulty level) or Legacy Loyalty Points (for equipment of lower difficulty levels). When the Server Paragon level rolls over to a new difficulty, any Loyalty Points are converted into Legacy Loyalty Points. It is also possible to do this conversion to make up for the price of an essence that costs Legacy Loyalty Points (but not the other way around).
- Essences from 2 or more difficulties below Server Paragon cost 400 Legacy Loyalty Points
- Essences from 1 difficulty below Server Paragon cost 600 Legacy Loyalty Points
- Essences from the same difficulty as the Server Paragon start at 200 Loyalty Points, and increase by 100 Loyalty Points every time one is obtained, up to 600. The cost increase is per class, and resets together with the rollover to a new difficulty.
Inherit[]

Essence inheritance menu
A legendary gear can be changed by inheriting an essence from another gear of the same same equipment slot. Any essence to be inherited must be in the collection of extracted essence. Inheriting an essence changes the Legendary property, name, icon, 3D model, and flavor text of a legendary gear.[1]
Transmogrify[]
Transmogrification is unlocked at an Essence Mastery of 1. Some legendary equipment also have a transmogrification option once their essences have been added to the collection. Transmogrification replaces the appearance of the player's attire with that of another legendary, but otherwise has no effect on gameplay.[3]
Transmogrified appearance replaces that of cosmetics, and vice versa.
Essence Transfer Vendors[]
Essence Transfer Vendors (simply called Transfer Vendors[4]) are NPCs that carry out Essence Transfer. Originally, Zamina was the only Transfer Vendor in the game, and could be found in Westmarch. Transfer Vendors were later added to each zone, even Castle Cyrangar and the Battleground.[4]
The Transfer Vendors currently in Diablo Immortal are:
- Vera -Guard's Watch in Ashwold Cemetery.
- Jelena -Castle Cyrangar
- Sonth -Rogue Battlecamp in Dark Wood
- Sable -Tabri's Encampment in Shassar Sea
- Warden of the Loom -Hidden Alcove in the Library of Zoltun Kulle

History[]
- In the January 16, 2023 update, Essence Mastery was added to Essence Transfer gameplay.[5] Scrapping Legendary Items at the Blacksmith was also removed, and they must be extracted instead.
- In the February 22, 2023 update, Essence Transfer NPCs were added to all safe zones, and the Multi-Extract option was added.
- In the July 13, 2023 update, a Transmogrification feature was made available for players who had reached Essence Mastery of 1.[3]
- In the December 14, 2023, Loyalty Bonuses were added to the Extraction menu.[2]
- In the March 27, 2024 update, Transfer Vendors were added to Castle Cyrangar and the Battleground.[4]
- In the July 10, 2024 update, the Extract page had a skill filter added (this also works when selecting an essence for the loyalty bonus).
Upon its introduction, the loyalty system consisted of selecting an essence to obtain and having a random chance to obtain it, with the chance increasing with every extraction. In the ??? update, the random chance was changed to a meter that counts up to 400 (in steps of 1, 5 or 25), and reaching 400 awards the selected essence.
Originally, there was a cap of 100 extractions that count for the loyalty bonus. Furthermore, essences from newly unlocked difficulties had a 7-day cooldown before they can be selected for the loyalty bonus. Both of these restrictions were removed in the March 20, 2025 update.
The fixed 400 points cost was changed into the distinction between Loyalty and Legacy Loyalty points, and the costs were changed to depend on the difficulty in the March 20, 2025 update.
