Eran is a member of the Tristram Militia.
During or before the undead siege against New Tristram, he suggested that the militia recruit more men, to which his superior refused. After the death of Deckard Cain, his superior acknowledged that if Eran's advice had been followed, Cain might still be alive. Eran told him that he was sorry, knowing that his superior had liked Cain.[1]
