Double Swing is a Barbarian Skill in Diablo II.

Lore[]

A Barbarian warrior learns to fight with a weapon in each hand; after all, are not two weapons better than one? A young Barbarian learns to use both hands independently of each other, striking simultaneous blows at separate targets. As his talent grows in this skill, he attacks with increasing control and accuracy.

General Information[]

Synergies[]

  • Receives synergy from:
    • Bash: +10% Damage per level

Double Strike allows the user to strike quickly at two different enemies (or one enemy twice, if only one is in range). Double Swing basically doubles the Barbarian's total Attack Speed, as well as chances of threatening targets with Open Wounds, Crushing Blow etc.

While this skill is quite powerful (it can be effective even in Hell difficulty), it is often overshadowed by the similar yet stronger Frenzy skill, especially when synergy skills are considered. However, some players may opt to continue using Double Swing as their main form of offense, if the reduction of attack speed is too much, or the increased speed causes increased confusion or lag. The two skills can be used in conjunction as well, though if this is to be the case, it's not recommended to place more than a couple points into Frenzy, as the benefits per stack drop sharply after the first two hits.

At default level, it costs 2 Mana to use Double Swing. As the Barbarian puts points into this skill, the Mana cost levels off, eventually reaching 0. This negates any problems with a Mana shortage, making Double Swing a 'free, upgraded' version of the Barbarian's basic Attack that he can switch to should he need to strike quickly to regain his Mana using Mana Leech. As Mana cost listed gives two attacks, cost per hit is even lower.
