Doom Serpents was a spell in demo version of Diablo I. In the released game, it was cut.

The spell would release a projectile consisting of two snakes corkscrewing around each other. This would home in on a target, possibly hitting two targets much like Elemental, but would not appear without a valid target. It could only damage beasts (and the Butcher), dealing high Magic damage.
In the end, the spell icon was used for the Guardian, and mechanics were partially reincorporated into Elemental.
