Rise of the Necromancer is a DLC pack for Diablo III. It released on June 27, 2017.
Overview[]
The pack costs $14.99 USD.[1] To use the pack, one needs to have Reaper of Souls installed for PC or have the Ultimate Evil Edition for console. New achievements will be implemented along with the Necromancer.[2][3] Purchasing the pack for the PC/Xbox One/PlayStation 4 only gives players access to the platform they bought it for.[4] To buy the pack, PC/Mac players can purchase it through an in-game store that will be implemented in Diablo III, or the Blizzard Store. Console players can purchase it through the Xbox One/PlayStation 4 marketplaces. Alternatively, console players can get the pack as part of Diablo III: Eternal Collection. No physical version of the pack will be released.[1]
Features[]
- The Necromancer, a new playable class
- An in-game pet
- Cosmetic wings
- Two additional character slots
- Two stash tabs (not available on console)[1]
- A portrait frame
- A banner sigil[5][6]
Exclusive Cosmetics[]
Development[]
The groundwork for Rise of the Necromancer goes back to the development of Project Hades. Hades only required a small percentage of Team 3's attention, which allowed other members of Team 3 to hold game jams, where they would spend a few days hacking together quick prototypes for wild ideas. One group prototyped a version of the Necromancer from Diablo II, moving it into the Diablo III engine.[7]
The pack proper began work after Hades's cancellation, in order to provide more Diablo III content while work commenced on Project Fenris.[8] The Necromancer prototype became the basis and namesake of the pack.[7]
