Diablo, as he appears in Diablo Immortal

Diablo is the final boss of the Shattered Sanctuary update of Diablo Immortal.

Overview[]

Diablo is fought in the Terror's Reign quest, as the boss of the Terror's Sanctum dungeon. The battle begins immediately after his avatar is defeated. Diablo has more abilities than any of his incarnations in other games, and mainly uses fire based attacks. Many of his abilities from the second and third games return here. The fight slightly differs if the player decided to spare Verathiel earlier.[1]

At different points, Diablo will protect himself in a barrier, cloak the arena in darkness, and summon an endless horde of demons. The player will have to kill demons to power El'druin, and use it to dispell the darkness.

Boss Challenge[]

After completing the questline of Shattered Sanctuary, players can replay Diablo's boss fight in a party of up to 4 members, or alone. The players immediately fight Diablo; skipping the rest of Terror's Sanctum and Diablo's avatar. The battle remains largely the same, but the dialogues relating to Verathiel are omitted.

Completing the Boss Challenge unlocks Echo of Justice weapon cosmetic.

Combat[]

Diablo uses the following attacks:

1st Battle[]

Phase 1
  • A simple claw swipe.
  • Fireball: Diablo forms a fireball between his hands and slams it on the ground. A single Fire Bolt is released from the explosion.
  • Flame Circle; initiated with a stomp.
  • Fissures: Diablo stomps the ground, creating 3 rifts that explode after a short delay.
    • Fissures is always followed by a Flame Circle.
  • Apocalypse: Diablo teleports to the center of the arena and ignites his hands, creating 5 burning storms after a short delay. The storms persist for 13 seconds.
  • Red Lightning Hose: While the storms rage, Diablo shoots a stream of lightning at the player. This action is done thrice.
    • This attack begins at a little distance from Diablo, thus can be evaded by entering melee range.
  • Leap: Diablo leaps to the player's location, dealing AoE damage and knockback. This action is done thrice.
    • Bone Prison: While leaping, multiple bone prisons will emerge at the player's location for the next 10 seconds.
  • Summon Minion: Diablo summons 10 Demon Warriors through portals.
Phase 2
"Terror is all that awaits you."

At 75% total life, Diablo will teleport to the center of the arena and protect himself in a barrier, becoming invulnerable and immobile. The arena is then cloaked in darkness and an endless horde of Fanged Flayers attack the player. Kill them to power El'druin, and use it to dispell the darkness. This action has to be done thrice, with the barrier visibly weakening with each dispel.

During this period, Diablo attacks as usual, but cannot use leap or summon minions.

Phase 3
"An angel's blade? Hah. I wield creation itself."

Diablo retains all his skills from the first phase. If Verathiel was spared earlier, he will bring her under his thrall, forcing the player to kill her.

The skills mentioned below are either new skills or those that differ from previous phases.
  • Shades of Damnation: Diablo summons 2 copies of Skarn, his traitorous lieutenant. They attack with novas, beams and blasts.
    • The second time this skill is used, 4 shades are summoned.
  • Blast Wave: Diablo teleports to the center of the arena and surrounds himself with a flame wall. He then unleashes alternating cones of fiery blast waves that deal large damage.
    • Fire Wall: For the duration of the blast wave, Diablo surround himself in a ring of flames. This doesn't actually protect him, but will burn the player if they enter its range.

2nd Battle[]

Diablo uses the shard to resurrect himself

  • Fireball: Same as first battle.

  • Fissures now create 6 rifts.
  • Apocalypses are now mobile and last longer.
