The Deathspeaker is the head of the Priests of Rathma.
Lore[]
To become deathspeaker, the aspiring Necromancer had to travel to the Temple of the Deathspeaker and face deadly trials in order to prove their worth.[1] Its halls are filled with the corpses of those who failed.[2] An existing deathspeaker may appoint a successor while they are still alive.[3] The deathspeaker has their own seal.[4]
History[]
Kalan was the founder of the Priests of Rathma,[5] and in so doing, served as the first deathspeaker.[6] Kalan appointed Daros as his successor,[3] who succeeded him. While initially an unpopular choice, Daros quickly proved his worth with the creation of the Lidless Wall.[6]
It is unclear who succeeded Daros; Mykan, however, is known to be one of the earliest deathspeakers of the order.[7][8]
During the End of Days, Jurdann was Deathspeaker,[9] but was killed by the Reapers. The spirit of Ordan bid that his former student take up the mantle of deathspeaker.[10]
