Death Sentry deals slightly less damage than Lightning Sentry and shoots fewer times, but with Corpse Explosion this trap deals much more total damage in combat with non-boss foes.
Similarly to the Necromancer's ability, the corpse explosion deals damage based on the total life of the monster it targets, making it powerful no matter the difficulty level.
Shooting either Lightning, or Corpse Explosion counts as a trigger.
