Cornelius was the penultimate king of Westmarch.
Biography[]
Cornelius came to power during the Cartolus Insurrection. Described as a Zakarum lackey by Abd al-Hazir, he nevertheless used the opening of Tyrra's death to crush the rebellion and become king.[1]
Cornelius's reign was long. He often rode through Westmarch unaccompanied, sometimes visiting Torion. The two had a good relationship, and Cornelius insisted that Torion address him on a first-name basis.
Cornelius fathered three sons, among them being Cornelius the Younger, and Justinian. His third son died in his youth. In 1265, Cornelius the Younger perished from a spider bite. Later in the year, Cornelius the Elder died after a battle with illness. Justinian, now Justinian IV, succeeded him as king.[2]
