Confuse is a Necromancer skill in Diablo II.
Lore[]
Necromancers can tap into the spirit realm, channeling bitter and mischievous spirits into the minds of nearby enemies. The victims are bombarded with the gibbering of the dead, which, indistinguishable from their own thoughts, urge them to strike at friend and foe alike. The discordant wailing of these spirits builds to a crescendo, eventually driving the victim mad.

Usage[]
When cast on a group of enemies, Confusion causes them to turn on each other for a short time. This Curse resets the "friend-foe" identification of monsters, making them treat all nearby targets as hostile. This includes both other monsters and Necromancer and his allies, so if no other targets are available, monsters may turn on the real enemy.
Confuse is a good way to distract enemies and create fresh corpses.
Confuse does not work on Bosses, Super Uniques, or other players (and even player pets) either.
Confused monsters grant the caster experience for each monster they kill, as if their damage was resolved on the Necromancer's behalf.
This skill is very powerful against Scarab Demons, as it removes their immunity to each other's charged bolts. Thus, once they strike each other, a big cascade effect can occur where a whole group of these is almost instantly destroyed. Beware of the charged bolt storm that emanates from such as event, as this can be very damaging to you and your minions.
In the endgame, usefulness of this skill declines, as monsters do not do enough damage to each other, and other players (especially melee fighters) are not guaranteed to be safe in chaos.
