- Character description(src)
Charsi is a Barbarian blacksmith.
Biography[]
Early Life[]
When she was very young, Charsi and her parents were ambushed by a throng of khazra. Her parents managed to hide her in the surrounding wilderness area before they were slaughtered. By chance, members of the Sisterhood of the Sightless Eye found Charsi and took her into their care.[1] Akara then told Charsi what had happened to her parents.[2]
She became a member of the Sisterhood, using her immense physical strength to forge the Order's weaponry and armor,[1] wielding the Horadric Malus to carry out her work.[3] She became close friends with the Rogue Moreina.
While she enjoyed being a blacksmith, she sometimes wondered what her life would have been like if she had been raised as a Barbarian instead.[2] She believed that her real family was among the tribes of the Northern Steppes.[4] Sometimes, she just wanted to get out and explore the world.[2]
The Sightless Eye[]
In 1264, Eastgate Keep fell to Andariel, with many Rogues corrupted and turned to her side as a result. Charsi, and the other members of the Sisterhood, fled the keep. In the chaos of retreat, Charsi left behind the Horadric Malus. She and the survivors established an encampment in the wilderness of Khanduras.[2] She was the youngest survivor of Eastgate.[4] While in the camp, she continued to forge weapons and armor, taking satisfaction in the knowledge that they were helping to end the evil that plagued the land.[2]
Some newcomers arrived in the camp, among whom was Gheed. Charsi liked him, and the stories of adventures that he told to her.[2] She even let him guard her money.[4]
More notably, a group of heroes arrived in the camp, and slew Moreina Blood Raven, who had fallen to Andariel's corruption. Charsi thanked them for putting her former friend to rest.[5] The heroes are also be able to retrieve the Malus from Eastgate,[3] and slay Andariel herself. Charsi wished them all well before they headed east.[6]
Westmarch[]
"It is certainly large, I will give it that. Where might I find Deckard Cain?"
"Right, of course! Cain has a workshop to the left of the central square. Just beyond the fountain. You know, once I've finished up here, I'll join you two! Give you a proper introduction to the city!"
- Charsi and the hero(src)
After the reclamation of Eastgate, Charsi became discontent with her life in the Sisterhood, apparently inspired by the heroes she had aided.[7] She decided to leave the Sisterhood. When she left, Akara gave her an amulet that would open a portal to the Dark Wood, in case she ever needed to find her way home.[8]
Charsi became a blacksmith in Westmarch.[9] Charsi's earlier deeds made her "a legend," and business was good.[7] Adventurers would bring material from the city's Elder Rift to her smithy, giving her a steady income. She never entered the rift herself, however.[9]
In 1270, Deckard Cain arrived in the city, and asked her and Piri to greet a hero/group of heroes who he was expecting. Charsi was unable to leave her smithy, but Piri directed the hero(es) to her. Upon their arrival, Charsi directed them to Cain's workshop, promising that she'd give them a tour of Westmarch later.[10]
Charsi met the Shard-seeker outside Cain's workshop, learning that they hadn't destroyed the shards. They told her that they were headed for the Dark Wood, and at their request, Charsi took them to see the Elder Rift.[11] She later took them to see Vic, who she believed could help them with legendary gems. The two assisted Vic after he was accousted by some bandits.[12]
While the Shard-seeker was away, the city's Challenge Rift was activated. Adventurers entered the Rift and brought materials back to Charsi's smithy.[13]
The Shard-seeker returned from the Dark Wood, and brought the regards of Kashya, much to Charsi's joy. She took them to see the Challenge Rift, and told them to meet her at her smithy when they were done. There, she gave them a belt in thanks for them aiding the Sisterhood.[14]
Later Events[]
Charsi became aware of the Domain of Horror, and the Deceiver demons that lurked within it. She offered a bounty to adventurers to enter the realm, slay the Deceivers, and bring their weapons to her. She hoped that studying them would aid in the fight against Hell.[15] Similarly, she offered payment to those who could deliver her Ashwold steel.[16]
When the Shard-seeker was away, Charsi met Rayek.[17] The two of them built the Helliquary.[18] Later, they came to Charsi to obtain some scoria, in order to reinforce the device. Charsi obliged, giving them the last of her supply.[19]
Charsi was among the friends that saw Deckard Cain off when he departed from Westmarch in 1272.[20]
C. 1273, Rayek gave Charsi the blueprint for a strange device for her to build for him.[21]
Crucible Justice[]
Reign of Enmity[]
Charsi was still alive duri of the Reign of Enmity, but she had left Westmarch.[22]
In-game[]
Diablo II[]
Charsi is the blacksmith in the Rogue Encampment in Act I of Diablo II, and is highly skilled at shaping, crafting and repairing weapons. During the chaos of the attack by the forces of Hell on the Rogue Monastery, she was forced to leave her most important forging tool behind, the Horadric Malus. Fortunately for her, however, the hero returns the Malus to her after defeating the Smith. With it, Charsi will imbue any normal item of the player's choice as a token of thanks.
Charsi is very good-natured, and described as a "sweet girl" and "young and innocent." She is highly accepting of the hero upon his/her entrance to the camp. She has a cheerful tone and is willing to help out a great deal. She shows a certain fondness toward most, even Gheed, but feels that Warriv is "too quiet."
Her ancestry is Barbarian. She is a member of the Sisterhood of the Sightless Eye, evidenced when she refers to the Rogues as "our sisters."

Oh, by the way... I'm Charsi, the blacksmith here in camp.

Gossip about Charsi[]
Some of the other locals give their thoughts concerning Charsi.
As long as I keep filling her mind with stories of adventure, she'll never catch on to the fact that I'm raking in gold hand over fist!
Here in the camp, she merely makes do. Her best tools remain within the Monastery.
Diablo Immortal[]
Charsi is a vendor in Westmarch in Diablo Immortal. Players are first introduced her during the "Cain's Request" quest. She later guides players through the city in a series of mini-quests. She will fight the Brigands in the "Diamond in the Rough" quest, but deals minimal damage.
She is the provider of the "Weapons of War" and "Ashwold Steel" bounties, and introduces players to the Helliquary in its questline, beginning with the quest "Opening the Helliquary."
Charsi can refine Scoria for the player, converting it into Hellfire Scoria.
Dialogue[]
- "Hi there! It's good to see you again." (Charsi will utter this line even before players are actually introduced to her in the quest line)
- "Be safe, all right?"
- "Goodbye!"
- "I hope that can help."
- "You do the fighting, I'll do the forging."
- "Ah, I've been itching to put the Malus to good use."
Personality and Traits[]
Naive[4] but ebullient,[7] Charsi takes great pride in her work, able to "fashion any weapon of war."[2] She loves hearing stories of adventure.[4] Akara described Charsi as being "young and innocent," but noted that her "Barbarian blood" gave her the yearning for adventure and danger. Gheed noted that Charsi has no business savvy.[2]
Charsi is aware of the existence of the Burning Hells, and is committed to the fight against it.[15]
