Chain of Possession is a Fractured Peaks side quest in Diablo IV. It is the second quest in the Woodsman of Nevesk questline, and follows on from The Woodsman of Nevesk. The player must be at least Level 5 to access it. It is obtained by talking to Parin in Menestad. It leads directly into Legacy Unmade.
Objectives[]
- Enter the Red Cellar (Magdalena massacred several knights with the Woodsman's Axe in Menestad. I must go after her and separate her from the axe.)
- Approach Magdalena
- Slay Magdalena and take the Woodsman's Axe
- Speak to Parin

- Parin: Get up! She must be stopped before more are hurt! You there! Help!
- Class: Calm down old man, what ails you?
- Parin: A madwoman with an axe! She massacred my knights, like they were children...
- Parin: Her face was pained, as if she could not stop herself. The axe...it seemed to feed on the blood...
- Parin: Someone must separate her from that accursed axe! The town militia won't stand a chance.
- Magdalena: You! Anyone but you! Stay back!
- Parin: Is it done?
- Class: The threat is no more.
- Parin: Magdalena...Light be damned, how did this come to pass?
- Parin: I need your help, and we haven't much time. We'll need to purge the demon from the blade before it can be destroyed.
- Parin: Meet me in the Crags of Ill Wind. My study there is on hallowed ground. There is no safer place to perform the incantation.
