Bverrit Keep is a unique Tower Shield from Diablo II: Lord of Destruction.

Like most tower shields, Bverrit Keep has a higher defense but lower chance of blocking than other, smaller shields. The bonuses it has are somewhat specialized.

Most noticeable about Bverrit Keep is its very high boost to Fire Resist. When combined with other Fire Resistant equipment such as Infernostride or Hexfire, a character could give a humongous boost to Fire Resist even as far as Nightmare or Hell difficulties.

Besides its high Fire Resist, Bverrit Keep has minimal bonuses. The boost it gives to Strength is small, and its magic damage reduction is similarly low. The fact that it does not give bonuses to any other Resistances is a problem, as not every enemy uses Fire attacks.

All in all, Bverrit Keep may be a useful shield to keep in case of an enemy that uses a multitude of Fire Attacks (such as Vampires), or against bosses that are Fire Enchanted.

  • Bverrit's Keep is an anagram for Peter Brevik, lead programmer of Diablo II.
  • It's also believed that the design of this in game shield comes from a real life medieval shield that was captured from the Bohemians at the Battle of Wenzenbach in 1504. A source image and description can be found in the book 'The Last Knight: The Art, Armor, and Ambition of Maximilian I' on Page 24, FIG. 4.
