"I'm sorry, Haedrig."— Brycen(src)
"I grew over by the docks. Not the good part of town, but it's what my parents could afford. They died when the plague swept through a few years ago. Within hours of each other, like they had to stay together. I used to hate them for leaving me, but now...it's a relief they didn't have to see this happen."— Brycen(src)
Brycen grew up in Westmarch by the docks, as it was all his parents could afford. A few years before the End of Days, he lost his parents when a plague swept through the city. Both of his parents died within hours of each other, and Brycen later reflected it was as if they had to stay together. At the time, he hated them for leaving him.
The Reaper of SoulsEdit
Brycen's 'apprenticeship' didn't start well. He leant Haedrig's best hammer to a man who promised to give it back, causing Haedrig to exclaim that he'd never see the hammer again, and tell Brycen to get out of his sight. However, the Nephalem correctly deduced that after losing his father and wife, Haedrig couldn't bear to lose someone else he cared about (an insinuation that Haedrig didn't take kindly towards). In the end though, Haedrig softened and took Brycen on as his apprentice.
