Bone Spikes is a Primary Necromancer skill in Diablo III.


When cast, creates a 8 yards radius circle of bone spikes at the designated location. Enemies within it suffer Physical damage.

Note that Essence is only generated if Bone Spikes actually deal damage.


  • Sudden Impact: Bone spikes also stun enemies for 1 second on hit.
  • Bone Pillars: Instead of the circle, instantly strikes the target and up to two nearby enemies with large bone pillars for 225% damage as Poison each. No longer deals area damage.
  • Frost Spikes: Damage type changes to Cold, and also leaves a frost patch that reduces the movement speed of affected foes by 60% for 2 seconds.
  • Path of Bones: Instead of the circle, unleashes a fast-moving 5 yards wide line of spikes that deals 100% damage as Physical as it travels forward, but damage is increased by up to 100% with distance (farther enemies take more damage). No longer deals damage over time.
  • Blood Spikes: All enemies hit will also bleed for 50% damage as Physical over 2 seconds and heal the Necromancer for 0.5% of total Life over the duration. Both effects stack from multiple applications.

Non-rune enhancementsEdit

  • Depth Diggers (Legendary Pants): damage increases by 80-100%.
  • Reilena's Shadowhook (Legendary Two-Handed Scythe): Bone Spikes generate additional 2-5 Essence for each enemy hit, and passively grants 0.5% increased damage for every point of maximum Essence the Necromancer has.
  • Bryner's Journey (Legendary Boots): Bone Spikes have a 20-30% chance to cast a Bone Nova at the target location.
  • Trag'Oul's Avatar Set (Set Bonus for 4 items): while at full Life, healing from Blood Spikes is added to maximum Life for 45 seconds, up to 100% additional Life.
  • Trag'Oul's Avatar Set (Set Bonus for 6 items): Blood Spikes healing is increased by 100%.
  • Simplicity's Strength (Legendary Gem): increases damage by 25% (+0.5% per rank) and heals the character for 4% of maximum Life per hit (rank 25 bonus).
  • Boyarsky's Chip (Legendary Gem): Taunts the first enemy hit for 2 seconds (rank 25 bonus).
