The Bloodsworn were an all-female cult that operated from out of the Dark Wood who pledged their allegiance to the Countess.[1]
Lore[]

Possible Bloodsworn insignia
The Bloodsworn were composed of traitor Rogues from the Sisterhood of the Sightless Eye.[2] Their members were known for their black armor.[3] According to the Countess, the blood of fallen Bloodsworn was returned to her upon their demise, aiding her in death as much as in life.[4] This was likely made possible through the use of the Blood Rose.[5] The Bloodsworn performed rituals to honor her.[6]
The strongest of their number were stationed inside the Forgotten Tower, where they guarded their mistress.[7]
History[]
War in the Dark Wood[]
The Bloodsworn were formed in the period after the destruction of the Worldstone[2] by Lakrii. She led numerous other members of the Sisterhood away from their order to form their new group,[8] and they committed various atrocities,[2] attacking all who ventured into the Dark Wood.[6] As such, the Dark Wood, once a shortcut for merchants traveling through Khanduras, became too dangerous a journey to take. Westmarch requested that adventurers clear out the Bloodsworn so that the route might be usable again.[9]
The Bloodsworn became known to Westmarch, which regarded them as insurgents. It offered bounties to adventurers to kill Bloodsworn.[10] The kingdom concluded that if the Bloodsworn were to be defeated, it had to be on their own ground. It offered bounties to adventurers to storm the Forgotten Tower and kill the Countess.[7]
In 1270, the Bloodsworn razed Blackstone Village to the ground, summoning Dark Creepers to infest the ruins,[3] while collecting the blood of every man, woman, and child.[1] A small girl, Alyssa, survived, thanks to the efforts of the Shard-seeker. The Bloodsworn attempted to take their lives as well, but were repelled by a group of Rogues led by Kashya.[2] The Rogues gave chase, but the Bloodsworn ambushed them, wounding many and driving them back. Inside the den, they presented the blood that they had collected to the Countess, who told them that this still wasn't enough. The den was cleared out by the hero, but Lakrii escaped, and the Bloodsworn were still active.[1]
The Sisterhood attacked the Bloodsworn in the Forgotten Tower, however, the Bloodsworn fought back ferociously, causing the attack to falter.[11] At around about the same time, the Bloodsworn ambushed a group of Rogues in the Sanguine Ruins, killing most of them while taking the survivors to the Blood Rose, which would drain them of their blood. The Bloodsworn failed to stop their foe(s) from slaying the creature, though not before Lakrii sacrificed herself to the creature, reviving the Countess fully in the process.[12]
When the Shard-seeker attacked the Forgotten Tower, the Bloodsworn tried to hold them at bay, but despite the urgings of their mistress, they were slain, with the Countess herself defeated as well.[13] The Sisterhood remained in the Dark Wood to ensure that the Bloodsworn did not return.[14]
The Bloodsworn Hunter[]

The Hunter battles the Bloodsworn
The Bloodsworn's attack on Blackstone Village inadvertantly sealed their doom. While they believed to have wiped the town out, there were a few survivors who fled to Eastgate Keep, where they resolved to better themselves, in order to seek revenge. At least one of these villagers was trained as a Rogue; an individual who became known as the Bloodsworn Hunter.[15] The cultists were wiped out, and the Hunter scoured the countryside of Khanduras for any surviving Bloodsworn.[16]
