Blizzard Albany, formerly named Vicarious Visions,[1] is a games development studio. As of 2021, it has a staff of around 200 people.[2]
History[]
Vicarious Visions became a subsidiary of Activision in 2005, and worked on franchises such as Skylanders, Crash Bandicoot and Tony Hawk.[3] It began working with Blizzard c. 2019, starting with working on Battle.net integration.[4] In 2020, alongside Team 3, it began work on Diablo II: Resurrected, taking over from Team 1.
As of early 2021, it was declared that Vicarious Visions would focus entirely on Blizzard's franchises.[3] In April, 2022, VV was merged into Blizzard proper,[5] and renamed "Blizzard Albany."[1] The staff will remain based in its Albany studio.[5]
The team worked on both Diablo IV and Diablo IV: Vessel of Hatred.[6]
