General Information[]

Synergies[]

  • Gives synergy to : None
  • Receives synergy from:
    • Warmth: +6% Fire damage per level

Blaze is the predecessor to the Sorceress' highest damaging fire-based skill, Fire Wall. Like Fire Wall, it leaves a trail of fire hazardous to foes; however, it is considerably weaker than Fire Wall. Although it is useful in the early stages of the game, this skill becomes less effective and a little more dangerous to use as enemies become tougher to kill and deal more damage.

Once cast, Blaze creates a wall of fire behind the Sorceress for every step she takes. Most effective in small rooms where enemies will be forced to follow you, as well as situations where a Sorceress needs to escape from pursuing enemies, Blaze is not a very direct offensive move. Specializing in Blaze is a dubious choice given its low damage and cumbersome use, but it is not necessarily useless if unlocked early: for example, Andariel and Duriel can be kited and taken down with this skill due to the former's negative Fire Resistance, their lethal close combat attacks and the layout of their chambers (although doing so may take quite some time due to mediocre damage of the skill).

While Blaze is active while moving, it cannot be cast on the move, making the Sorceress stop briefly to cast it. Once cast, though, it does not require any actions or Mana expense until it wears off.

Besides damaging enemies, Blaze increases Movement Speed, making it an alternative to a Teleport.
