Between Two Evils is the sixth Dark Wood quest in Diablo Immortal. It follows immediately on from Gathering the Reagents, and leads directly into Tree of Inifuss.
Description[]
The ritual...failed? Speak with Hemlir by the fireside to learn more.
The high priestess has offered her insight. With her arcane understanding, the mystery behind the Dark Wood's corruption might have finally been revealed.
An armor comissioned by Hemlir waits for you with the blacksmith, Hess. Make sure to collect it before continuing upon your journey.
The druid's ritual requires a source of dark magic to function. The camp of nearby cultists could provide such forbidden power.
More than one evil has its eye set upon the Worldstone Shard. Lakrii's mistress seems intent to defy the Lord of Damnation at any cost.
Cultists of Damnation rise against you. Slay them and collect the ember of dark magic needed for Hemlir's ritual.
Finally the ember is yours. Claim it and leave this hellish place.
Hemlir requested your presence at the Tree of Inifuss once the ember of dark magic was yours. It is time for the ritual to begin.
Arriving in the clearing, you witness the Bloodsworn attack Hemlir without mercy. Join the fight and rescue your druidic ally.
Despite his injuries, Hemlir wishes to continue. His ritual will allow him to commune with the Dark Wood and finally find the root of its corruption.
The ritual has begun, but as the strange magics reveal their ancient truths, Hemlir is vulnerable. Keep the Bloodsworn away while the druid works his magic.
The magic has lulled. Perhaps now would be a good time to speak with Hemlir about what he's learned.

Transcript[]
- Hemlir: It-it failed! I don't understand!
- Class
- Standard: What happened? Did we get something wrong?
- Blood Knight: What happened? Did you make a mistake?
- Hemlir: No! No, the ritual should have worked. Each piece represents a part of the Dark Wood's condition. The flames should have revealed their connection. We're missing something...
- Hemlir: Akara, we could use your help.
- Akara: Could you, now? It is nice to know that, even at my age, my insight is still appreciated.
- Akara: An intangible thread that unites all three components. A dark power that has lingered here, given new life...Yes, a woman's visage. She who perverted the nature of these woods. Dark magic corrupted this forest and only dark magic can bind your ritual. (cut line)
- Akara: Yes, a woman. Her wicked desires have perverted the nature of these woods. Only a magic equally as dark can bind your ritual.
- Hemlir: We would be blind without your wisdom, Akara. Well, if we're seeking out dark magic, I know exactly where to look.
- Hemlir: On my way to the great tree, I encountered a camp of cultists. They've been scouring the woods looking for something.
- Hemlir: If we're seeking a source of dark magic, that's the place you're going to find it.
- Class: Very well. I'll return soon.
- Hemlir: Hah, no need to keep running around. Just meet at the Tree of Inifuss. With all four components, we should be able to fight back this corruption.
- Hemlir: Oh, before you go--I asked Hess to make something for you. But you need to grab it yourself...I am still recovering after all!
- Hess: There you are! Just finished this beauty up. Here, all yours. Sure makes me wonder what ol' Hemlir imagines is waiting for you out there, though. Heh. Whatever it is, this ought to come in handy.
- Vision of Skarn: Deliver unto me the fragment of the Eye, the "Worldstone," and you shall have whatever your heart desires.
- Lakrii: My heart only desires one thing. And your precious fragment is hers.
- Vision of Skarn: Deliver the stone or the Burning Hells will cleanse this world. Your mistress included.
- Lakrii: If you had such power, you'd be taking the stone. Not asking for it.
- Lakrii: You have your answer. With the stone's power, even Hell cannot stop her.
- Vision of Skarn: Damnation cannot be so easily denied. (cut line)
- Lakrii: We shall see...
- Class
- Standard: So, the Worldstone shard is with Lakrii's mistress. The rogues and I will need to work together to face such power.
- Blood Knight: So, the Worldstone shard is with Lakrii's mistress. The rogues and I will have a better chance against such power if we work together.
- Class: An ember of the Burning Hells. It smolders with a dark magic...I hope it will be enough. To the tree, then.
- Class
- Standard: The Bloodsworn are attacking...Hemlir, hold fast! I'm coming!
- Blood Knight: The Bloodsworn are attacking...Hemlir, hold fast!
- Class
- Standard: You're all right? Good. For a moment, I feared the worst.
- Blood Knight: You're all right? Good. I worried they'd overtaken you again.
- Hemlir: And with good reason. The damned Bloodsworn are giving us precious little time to waste. Still, you were able to get the final component, so not all is lost.
- Hemlir: Now, this ritual will connect my conciousness to the tree and the forest beyond. This magic is chaotic, ancient; the kind that scars the soul. Can I count on your protection, friend?
- Class: Do what you must. I will keep you safe.
- Bloodsworn Rogue: There, at the tree! Right where she said! Kill them!
- Hemlir: The tree...it's guiding my sight! I see the darkness infecting this land. An evil that has festered in the deep places. It corrupts life. Feeds off it like a parasite.
- Class
- Standard: Hemlir, your face, it's--we have to stop this!
- Blood Knight: You need to stop the ritual. It's changing you.
- Hemlir: Did I not warn this kind of magic scars? Heh...no, we cannot stop. The ritual awakened the power bound within the tree. It wants to be free. It will help us fight the corruption, for a price...
