The Battle Pass (a.k.a. Season Pass) is a monetization feature of Diablo Immortal and Diablo IV.
Diablo Immortal[]
Battle Pass rotates once every 4 weeks. There is a free track and a premium track (called Empowered Battle Pass).
The Battle Pass can be leveled up by collecting Battle Points from various activities.
The 2-star Legendary Gem Selection Chest includes choices of Fervent Fang and Grim Rhythm, which are exclusive to the Battle Pass.

The total number of points to reach rank 40 is 6240, which can be achieved by earning an average of 222.86 points per day.
Collector's Empowered Battle Pass is an additional tier above the Empowered one. Owners of the Collector's Empowered Battle Pass earn Battle Archive Coins as they rank up each season. 100 Coins can be earned at Ranks 1, 10, 20, 30, and 40, and can be exchanged for Legendary Gems, Armor Cosmetics, Portal Cosmetics, and more from previous Battle Pass Seasons in the Battle Archive Shop. After Rank 40 is reached and the Season Cosmetic has been claimed, players have the opportunity to use Battle Archive Coins to purchase the Season Cosmetic for other Classes.
The items in the Battle Archive Shop rotate each season. Battle Archive Coins do not expire and can be exchanged during any Battle Pass Season. Players can upgrade from the Empowered Battle Pass to the Collector's Empowered Battle Pass at any time. If they do, any newly unlocked Rank rewards from the Collector's Empowered Battle Pass will be automatically rewarded to the player.
Upon purchase of the Collector's Empowered Battle Pass, all characters on a player's account in the same server will receive a Portrait Frame, Portal Cosmetic and 10 Battle Pass Ranks for that respective Battle Pass.
History[]
In the April 12, 2023 update, the Empowered Battle Pass Ranks 5 and 35 were changed to reward 3 Normal Gems each. The Seled's Awakening gem was removed from Ranks 5, 20, and 35, and was replaced by a Fervent Fang at Rank 20. This update also introduced the Collector's Empowered Battle Pass.
After the May 24, 2023 update, the legendary item choice is more likely to include essences that are not yet owned.
In the May 28, 2025 update (taking effect on June 5), the Voidblood Slag and Aspirant's Key rewards from the Empowered Battle Pass were replaced with Normal Gems or Gem Fragments. Voidblood Slag was added to the Free tier. The choice between Fervent Fang and Grim Rhythm (both Free and Empowered) was replaced with a 2-star Legendary Gem Selection Chest that includes the two Battle Pass-exclusive gems as choices. The Fervent Fang gem from the Battle Archive Shop was replaced with a 2-star Legendary Gem Selection Chest that costs 100 Battle Archive Coins and has a monthly limit of 5.

Battle Pass interface (development)
Diablo IV used a Battle Pass system until Season 8, where it was replaced by The Reliquary.
The Season pass gave players greater rewards as they played more throughout the Season. It was divided between free tiers (unlocked just by playing the game and leveling), and premium tiers, which provided no in-game power or advantage over other players. The free tiers of the pass provided gameplay boosts to all players—things which made the journey of leveling up a fresh seasonal character faster and more streamlined. In contrast, the premium tier rewarded are focused on aesthetics, providing a huge value in the form of cosmetics and premium currency.[1] A third tier, accelerated, could be purchased, which allowed players to skip 20 levels of the premium pass.[2]
Many of the rewards embodied the seasonal theme, helping players show off their participation in that season. At any point during the season, players could purchase the premium pass to unlock the ability to earn premium rewards tiers containing seasonally themed cosmetics and premium currency.[1] The Season Pass cost $10 USD,[3] while the accelerated pass cost $25 USD. Regardless of the case, each Battle Pass had 90 levels of rewards.[2]
The Season Journey accelerated Season Pass progression. While any play style could progress through the Season Pass, min-maxers could focus on Season Journey objectives to advance more quickly.[1] It was expected to take 75 hours of playtime to complete each Battle Pass.[4]
Battle Pass progression was shared between platforms.[4]
Awards[]
- Cosmetics: Like the Shop, these didn't affect gameplay. Additionally, certain cosmetic types were exclusive to the Season Pass.
- Premium Currency: Players could spend this currency on cosmetics offered in the shop.
- Season Boosts: These accelerated players' progression for the duration of the Season. For example, a Season Boost might accelerate XP earned to make leveling multiple characters within a season faster. Because they affected gameplay, Season Boosts were free rewards for all players. Players couldn't unlock Season Boosts more quickly through purchases; there was no way to unlock more boosts, or boosts at a faster pace, by spending money.
- Tiers: These could be purchased, but didn't speed up getting boosts. All other Tier rewards could be unlocked instantly by purchasing Tiers. In other words, there was no way to shortcut getting Season Boosts by buying Tiers; they must be earned.[1]
