Avoid is a Amazon Skill in Diablo II.

This ability hones the natural defensive ability of an Amazon. If she stands still, she can predict incoming missile attacks and elude them before they reach her. Most Amazon people can do this if all of their thoughts to the task, but only a warrior trained in this skill can do this even whilst caught unaware.

This ability is a ranged equivalent of Dodge, working in exact same way, except for it only affects ranged attacks. It allows the Amazon to avoid incoming missile attacks while standing still. Though the points drop off quickly (less than 2% per point after 8), at least one point is required as a prerequisite for Valkyrie.
Like Dodge, Avoid works while attacking and turning; it is only disabled when actually moving.
Any points put into this skill gives Valkyrie summons a chance to avoid missile attacks. The percentage for the Valkyrie is based on only the number of hard points allocated; +skill equipment increases the percentage for the Amazon but not the Valkyrie.
Bugs[]
If the Amazon has an attack in progress and Avoids an enemy's attack, the remainder of the Amazon's attack has no effect. Unfortunately, the full animation sequence of the attack is completed. For example, if the Amazon launches a 10-arrow Strafe attack, but avoids an attack after arrow #2, the other 8 arrows in the sequence still show up on the screen but do not actually have any effect. The Amazon is still "Strafe-Locked" for the duration.
