Ashava the Pestilent is a gigantic demon. A creature of pestilence, she bears two massive forearm blades that can cut through stone and flesh alike, and can coat the ground in a deadly poison.[1] Her scales are stronger than plate mail, and she hell-bent on ripping through all who interrupt her quest to bathe Sanctuary in poisonous bile.[2]
Biography[]
- Monster description(src)
Ashava was apparently artificially created, and has been described as "one of the Burning Hells' most heinous creations."[1] She slept under Sanctuary for a long time.[3] In 1270, she awakened early,[4] and was slain by adventurers.[5]
Decades later, Ashara emerged again, this time in the the Fractured Peaks during the Reign of Enmity. Journal entries recounting sightings of her were made, but the means to defeat her were lost.[1]
In-game[]
Diablo Immortal[]
Ashava appears as a boss in Diablo Immortal during the "Merciless Monstrosity" event. Defeating Ashava earns 10 Marks of Pestilence, 1 Telluric Pearl, 50 Scrap Materials, and 3 Enchanted Dust. Three additional Marks of Pestilence can be earned from completing Elder Rifts up to twice per day, and Ashava can be killed once a day for 10 Marks. She can also be randomly encountered in Elder Rifts during the event.[6]
Diablo IV[]
Ashava is World Boss in Diablo IV.[7] During the server slam weekend of May 12-14, defeating Ashava grants the Cry of Ashava mount trophy.[8]
Development[]
Ashava could be fought in the game's March beta weekends, during the following times:
- March 18 at 10 a.m., 12 p.m., 10 p.m. and midnight PDT
- March 25 at 10 a.m., 12 p.m., 10 p.m. and midnight PDT[1]
- May 13: 9 a.m. PDT, and every three hours thereafter until the final spawn on May 14, 9 a.m. PDT.[9]
Trivia[]
- Thematically, Ashava is said to be a constant reminder that Lilith is watching, and that nowhere in Sanctuary is safe from Hell. It is because of Ashava that Candace Thomas joined Team 3.[3]
- Ashava appears in the Dread Pilgrimage stain-glass artwork in Diablo Immortal. The glass depicts an angel plunging its spear into Ashava's skull. The imagery is reminiscent of the stain-glass artwork of Imperius in Diablo III: Wrath and the intro cinematic of Diablo III.
