Objectives[]
- Defeat the Malignant Ambush (Malignant have swarmed Cormond's wagon but thankfully he wasn't there. I should deal with them then search for Cormond.)
- Read Note from Cormond (I returned to the wagon but Cormond and his horse have gone. It seems he left me a note...)

- Find the Records Room with Cormond
- Search the Records Room
- Talk to Cormond

- Find Cormond in the Crypts of Orbei (We found a lead pointing to Hawezar but a powerful Malignant attacked. It called Cormond by name. When I tried to capture it, the cage exploded and it escaped. I must look for Cormond outside. He clearly knows more than he has said.)
- Find Cormond outside the Crypts of Orbei
- Speak with Cormond (I found Cormond outside the crypts of Orbei, thankfully unharmed. I must ask him how he knows this new powerful Malignant.

- Cormond's Note: I've found something! Meet me in the courtyard of Orbei as soon as you can!--Cormond
- Cormond: Ah, at last! Come, I've found something!
- Class: What have you found?
- Cormond: A hall of records, hidden under the old archive! The monks documented every discovery they made. That'll include our Cages of Binding, I'm sure of it.
- Cormond: There's an entrance down in the crypt. I can't open it, but there are...things down there. Nothing you can't handle, though!
- Cormond: The cages are the answer. If I can learn to use them properly, learn what went wrong, I, uh--we will have our cure.
- Cormond: There is the entrance. I will open it, just a moment...
- Cormond: Hold them back!
- Cormond: I did it! Inside now, quickly!
- Cormond: Untouched by fire, thank the Light! The hall of records must be intact.
- Cormond: Almost there, just down this corridor!
- Somewhere Above: (rubble shifts, debris falls)
- Cormond: Let's hurry...
- Cormond: Here we are. Look for any mention of Cages of Binding. Search the shelves, crates, rip up the damn floor if you have to. The answer is here.
- Faded Entry: 10th of Jerharan, 1281. Monk Kislek reports that our sacramental wine has grown weak. Accuses Monk Meston of drinking our stores and replacing the loss with water-
- Faded Entry: The Sigils of Dendas. Dated: -1000, found 1245 in the ashes of Old Tristram. Horadric ritual for the attunement of demonic energies--
- Faded Entry: Cages of Binding. 1236. Found in Hawezar, distributed among our Zakarum outposts there. Confiscated by order of-
- Class: I found an entry on the cages.
- Cormond: The cages were created in Hawezar. An invention of old Zakarum, I knew it! We must find this outpost of theirs. I'll ready the wagon!
- Class: What?
- Cormond: N-no!
- Varshan the Consumed: Corr-mond!
- Cormond: He's found me!
- Class: Wait!
- Varshan the Consumed: Out of--my--wayyy!
- Class: What was that?
- Class: Hmm...strange.
- Class: That creature came for you. Care to explain?
- Cormond: His name is Varshan. He was my mentor. My priest, until the day Lilith came to our village.
- Cormond: Her words drove our people mad, turned them against us. I begged Varshan to run, but he refused to abandon them, so...I...I left him behind.
- Cormond: In my guilt, I searched for a way to cure my people. Soon, I found Orbei...found the cages...
- Class: What happened after that?
- Cormond: I returned home to a ruined village. Varshan was the only one left, driven mad by Lilith. So, I took one of the cages and tried to remove his corruption.
- Cormond: But I did something wrong. The corruption burst out of him. Consumed him, body and soul. It has spread to everyone he's touched.
- Cormond: Varshan is the source of the Malignant. All of this is my fault.
- Class: You should have told me.
- Cormond: I know that now. And I am truly sorry. But you must understand, I only wanted to save the people I love.
- Cormond: And we still can. With a better cage, we can remove Varshan's corruption, curing him and all the Malignant after!
- Cormond: I'm going to Hawezar to find it. I hope you'll meet me there.
