Ancestral Weapons were a gameplay feature of Diablo Immortal, introduced in the Forgotten Nightmares update.

Lore[]

Weapon beaming with ancient power. Place in the Ancestral Tableau to imbue your warband with its power.

Ancestral weapons were recovered with the claiming of Castle Cyrangar by a warband. Unfortunately, some of the weapons had fallen into demonic hands.[1]

Gameplay[]

Ancestral Weapons had a chance to drop in any zone in the game, but the highest drop rates were in the Purge the Depths and Defense of Cyrangar game modes.

Ancestral Tableau

To harness the power of these weapons, you had to place them into the Ancestral Tableau, located in the heart of Castle Cyrangar. Once placed, Ancestral Weapons conferred a portion of their attributes, such as Combat Rating, strength, intelligence, and vitality onto all members of the warband. Every warband member could contribute any number of items and use those in the Warband Stash. The stats only served as a cap, and the actual stats needed to be upgraded by spending Warband Activity points.

In addition to the bonus attributes, players could also call upon special powers from the warband's Ancestral Weapons while donning Invocation Gear. All gear that drops had a chance to possess an additional Invocation property. Invocation Gear could be equipped to the player's character in its respective item slot to receive the benefit and trigger the ability of your Ancestral Weapon.

For example, an Ancestral Weapon might provide the property:

Deal Lightning damage to surrounding enemies.

When combined with an Invocation such as:

Chance to trigger your Ancestral Property when you deal damage.

It results in the combined ability:

Chance to deal lightning damage to surrounding enemies when you deal damage.[1]

Ancestral Properties[]

  • Call lightning to strike nearby enemies, immobilizing them for 2 seconds.
  • Detonate random enemy corpses.
  • Gain a temporary boost to your damage.
  • Gain a temporary shield.
  • Summon a hydra to attack surrounding enemies.
  • Unleash ancestral power, damaging and stunning surrounding enemies.

Ancestral Weapons must be enshrined at the Tableau for their ability to be activated by an Invocation.

History[]

Originally each warband member could only place one Ancestral Weapon in the tableau. This was changed such that every player can contribute any number of items and use those in the Warband Stash.

Ancestral Weapons were removed in the Nightmare Manifest update. Existing weapons from the Tableau were returned to their owners, and the Tableau now only provides a bonus based on the upgrade with Warband Activity points.
