- Talk to Rayek.
(You've returned alive - tell Rayek what you've seen and share what you've brought back with you.) - Talk to Rayek.
(Surely Rayek can help make some sense of this. Talk with him.) - Talk to Rayek in Westmarch.
(Rayek urged you to meet him at the workshop in Westmarch. See what his studies have uncovered.) - Talk to Rayek.
(A strange hum fills the air of the workshop. Talk to Rayek and see what he has wrought.) - Enter the Verge (0/1).
(Two portals are available for you to explore the verges - tears in the fabric of Sanctuary. Enter them when you are ready.)
Transcript[]
- Rayek's letter:
Have you been sleeping all right, friend? Lately, whenever I dream, I see Westmarch, or home, or places I've never been to before. They're twisted and burning red, like they're being swallowed up by the Hells.
Today I saw Wortham; the Helliquary seems to have felt the disturbance too.
Whatever Diablo's doing to us, we've got to stop it. Meet me when you're ready.
—Rayek
- Meet Rayek at Wortham
Wortham[]
- Rayek is studying a strange portal

Talk to Rayek
- Rayek: This is... enormously concerning. I hope the people of Wortham decide to sleep in today.
It's exactly like I saw in my dreams. A rip in the fabric of our world. And the Helliquary's been buzzing with energy. Do you think we should— - Class: I know what to do with a portal, Rayek. I'll be back.
- Rayek: Of course you do. Be safe. I'll make sure no one wanders over.
- Enter the portal
Terrorwrought Realm[]

The other side of the portal
- Class: It looks like Wortham, But... all wrong.
- Continue exploring

The player passes an echo of a villager
- Class: Who or what is this?
- Continue exploring

Demons ambush the player
- Class: The servants of Diablo are hard at work.
- Overseer: (from a distance) Gaze into the darkness and tremble.
- After killing the Demons
- Class: Begone.

One of the demons dropped something
- Pick it up
- Class: This looks... solid. Real. Different from everything else here.
- Track the demon's voice

It leads to the chapel
- Class: More of them over there.
- After killing them, enter the chapel

An Overseer demon is in the chapel, guarding an object on the altar. More demons arrive
- Overseer: With his rise, let blood turn to fire and dreams to nightmares.
- After killing the Demons
- Class: Another solid chunk of this place. I'll get it to Rayek.
- Pick up the Terrorwrought Shard
- Class: What... is happening?
- The realm collapses on the player
Wortham[]
- Class: The realm just... cast me out.

Talk to Rayek
- Rayek: You did it! At least I think you did. The portal burned up and vanished. Where did it take you?
- Class: Some place out of a nightmare—or Diablo's dreams. The minions of Terror were crawling all over it. But I brought you back something.
When I took this away, the whole realm collapsed. I don't know what it is.
- Give the Terrorwrought Shard to Rayek
- Rayek: It was theirs, and it's ours now. Just like the bits you found for the Helliquary. Perhaps...
We can't win a war with the demons. They always come back. We have to keep them in the Hells where they belong. And this could be a way.
Did you discover what Diablo is after? - Class: Madness and darkness. Beyond that, I do not know.
- Rayek: We can use this. Build a connection between realms, just like we did with the Helliquary and the Einfrinn Tree.[1] And then we can strike at them first. It won't be safe. But it's better than doing nothing.
Meet me at the workshop. (departs)
- Travel to Westmarch

In Cain's Workshop
- Rayek: (from a distance) I'm just below, Come have a look!
- Go to the basement

Rayek activates the Verges
- Rayek: Upstairs, a reputable workplace. Down here, our very own one-way waypoint to Hell's outskirts.
If you'll go into those terror realms again, maybe we can disrupt whatever's coming through. At the least, we can spit in Diablo's eye before he kills us. - Class: That's the spirit. I'll head there soon.
- Explore any of the verges (Abyssal Verge or Erebban)
