A Serpent Cornered was the eighth and penultimate quest of the Season of Blood questline in Diablo IV. It activatd as soon as the player completed Battle of Fear and Faith, and lead directly into In Your Blood.

Objectives

1. Meet Erys at the City of the Ancients
2. Enter the City of the Ancients
3. Meet Erys at the Courts of Night
4. Speak with Erys
5. Enter the City of the Ancients
6. Fight through the city to reach Lord Zir
7. Slay all enemies
8. Seek out Lord Zir
9. Kill the Blood Seekers
10. Confront Lord Zir
11. Kill Lord Zir

Transcript

• Hunter Erys: Oh good, it's you. You certainly move like a vampire.

• Class: I'm ready. Can you open the gate?

• Hunter Erys: The offering of flesh has been made, thanks to the guards. I just need to breach the seals.

• Hunter Erys: We can assume Zir knows you've come.

• Hunter Erys: (sigh) This is madness. Perhaps that's what it takes.

• Zir: Foolish child. I gave you your power...You were mine the moment you crossed my threshold.

• Zir: Submit. The pain will end.

• Echoes of Lord Zir: You feed upon your own kind and call me "monster?"

• Echoes of Lord Zir: You do not deserve the blood in your veins!

• Vampire Lord Zir: Enough!

• Vampire Lord Zir: Approach the throne.

Optional Dialogue

At Ked Bardu

• Class: We stopped the massacre. Didn't we stop Zir's ritual?

• Hunter Erys: That monster won't stop until he completes his damned ascension. He'll rally his legions soon enough and gather the blood he needs. You need to cut his throat before that happens. I'll do all I can to get you to him.

• Class: We can't use a portal? Where is the skull?

• Hunter Erys: He was gone when I returned...(scoff). A loose end. We'll tie it later.
