A Merciful Fate was the ninth and final quest of Season of the Malignant. It activated as soon as the player completed The Cold Hard Truth.
Objectives[]
- Meet Cormond at his wagon outside of Velkhova (Varshan's corruption is captured. His life is ended, but will the Malignant die with him? I should find Cormond by his wagon)
- Speak with Cormond
Transcript[]
- Class: What will happen to the Malignant now?
- Cormond: With Varshan destroyed, the Malignant will start to diminish. But that will take time.
- Class: You never answered me. Why the lie about Varshan?
- Cormond: I only wanted to create a mistake. You helped me, yes. But how could I confess to someone like you?
- Cormond: You forget how people see you...They tell stories of you to frighten children. The church gossips like spinsters about you. Merchants sell things you've only touched.
- Cormond: You are the Wanderer, and you inspire fear as much as awe. That is what you have become.
Optional Dialogue[]
- Class: What will you do now?
- Cormond: I...want to see this through.
- Cormond: If those lost to the Malignant can find peace because of the cages, I'll continue to make them.
- Cormond: I think Varshan will rest easier for it.
